AgAssetCo

About

Closing the gap between harvest and market

AgAssetCo is a productive-use asset company that deploys, owns, and operates agro-processing equipment integrated with renewable energy systems across rural and peri-urban Nigeria.

The agriculture-energy nexus problem

Nigeria’s rural agricultural sector produces at scale. Its urban food markets demand at scale. Between them, at the precise point where harvests need to be processed, preserved, and moved to market, there is an infrastructure gap that has constrained rural incomes, driven post-harvest losses, and prevented decentralized energy systems from achieving commercial viability for over a decade.

The gap is not technical. It is structural. And it is now financeable. AgAssetCo occupies a structural position no existing actor holds: mini-grid developers cannot own processing equipment, equipment suppliers cannot absorb technical risk or structure rural revenue, and microfinance institutions cannot take agricultural income risk. AgAssetCo does all three.

AgAssetCo

A DREEF cluster company

AgAssetCo operates under a DREEF-standardized Energy-as-a-Service framework, part of a wider group of asset-owning businesses that deploy distributed energy infrastructure across Nigeria’s underserved communities. Under this framework, a dedicated energy Developer finances, owns, and operates the solar hybrid mini-grid behind each hub under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement, while AgAssetCo focuses on what it does best: owning and operating the processing equipment itself.
